Total newby here working with my first Arduino. I can’t get my setup to respond to Makelangelo. It just sits there after I click draw. Here are more details:
My Setup:
– Arduino Uno, Adafruit Motor Stepper 2, Windows 7 running JRE 7 version 65, i can only get the program to launch with the 64 bit startup script. I’ve had a lot of trouble trying to get Makelangelo to find Java which makes me think this is where my problems might be but I’m not sure. Here is my progress/problem:
1. I can load the driver AMS2 successfully on COM4. It appears to load fine and I get the Hello World message. I can send G00 Y10; to it and both motors move. With every other command I send it moves but very slightly. Not sure if this is a problem or not.
2. I then launch Makelangelo. Can Connect to COM4. I then open the Hello World Outline. I click Draw and see it send the first command but receive back no response message. It does not send anything else and sits there I assume waiting for a response. I’m guessing the software and the arduino are not communicating correctly but I don’t know how to troubleshoot it. What should I do next? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
2014-08-02 at 18:13 #6744AnonymousInactiveThe firmware for AMS2 hasn’t been updated in a long time. We don’t officially support it as it doesn’t appear in any of our kits. We don’t even stock the shield 🙁
I just updated the AMS2 firmware in github update #63. http://www.github.com/marginallyclever/makelangelo
I don’t have an AMS2 board to test with. Try it and report back, please.2014-08-03 at 02:54 #6745AnonymousInactiveYes it works! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I was able to jog the motors and launch a drawing for the first time. My gondola is in need of work so I couldn’t complete it but everything looks solid. I can’t thank you enough. I’m building this with my 12 year old son and you saved me a lot of embarrassment. 😳
I wish I had purchased your my setup from you but I didn’t find your site until after I purchased my stuff.
