Tips to quiet your Makelangelo
The song of the Makelangelo should be beautiful, not annoying. Normally stepper motors moving quickly will produce musical tones. Over time a person can learn to recognize good sounds and bad sounds from the machine. In a perfect world the machine would make no sound at all, but the best we can hope for in the real world is to minimize the bad sounds to enjoy the good ones. Here’s a few tips to make your Makelangelo sing.
Tighten everything
Whether due to jostling while shipping, frequent use, or some other factor… screws can come a bit loose. take a moment to check they’re all “finger tight”. You don’t have to strain yourself forcing them to infinity. Just until you meet resistance + 1/4 turn is enough.
LCD panel

The smart controller panel has a screen and a back plate. They are only held together by solder joints along the top left edge. When the printer is doing it’s thing vibration can make the bottom edges tap together. If this happens it’s a bit like musical spoons.
To fix this issue, add a small piece of foam between the two bottom edges. Done!
