    My system uses two nema 17 motors, an arduino uno clone, and an adafruit v1 driver board.

    I am using windows 10 and just uninstalled and reinstalled the latest java.

    I am using the latest Makelangelo software and firmware as well.

    I can manually move the motors using the buttons, i can jog the motors as well but I can draw an image. The motors simply do not work and i get this:

    I had the a very similar problem (there’s another thread).
    Just last night, I figured out that I had to run the java software on a login that has administrator rights or I get the perpetual N0 line.

    I have an adafruit arduino and V2 motor shield.
    Things don’t run perfectly, but I can make some drawings.
    It is very cool.

    That is fascinating and bizarre.

    When Java sends a message like

    N0 M101 T29.845 B-29.845 L-19.208750000000002 R19.208750000000002 I1 J-1

    to the robot, it also adds a ; and then a checksum on the end. I don’t print the checksum to the log because it’s usually an unprintable character that might have unintended effect.

    NO CHECKSUM 0 is saying “I never got the checksum”.

    But in administrator mode it gets the checksum. Why would the mode change the end of every message? Does not compute.

    When logged in not as administrator, I get the perpetual N0 line, but I don’t get the checksum report.
    I also noticed that the the 7.4.5 or 7.5 won’t talk at all if I load the latest firmware on github. I haven’t looked line by line to see what’s different, but I will.

    How do i run it as administrator then? I assume you are talking about java not makelangelo correct?

    Ok, this is outside my comfort zone so I had my buddy help me who is a java developer.

    He was able to open the jar file in eclipse and force administrator privileges. This did not change the issue we were having.

    We did see though that the file is made to report no checksum from the board. That leads me to believe there is a board error somewhere…

    he showed me a place in the code that said something along the lines of “get from board” & “Report 0 checksum”

    I am having a similar issue. I was able to print a few test prints, then something happened.
    When I try to print now, I get the same loop with “NOCHECKSUM 0”

    I am able to use the “Manual Driving” area to move them pen, but sending art isn’t working. I am running as administrator. If it helps, that error and loop starts before it ask me to get the pen ready.

    A little more information, encase this helps.

    I was able to print a generated file after I started to get the checksum error.
    I’m not sure why that file worked, and others don’t.

    With all art, I noticed if I start on line number 1, I get the prompt to load the pen and the drawing starts.
    Instead of moving down to the print area though, it starts to move to the right.

    I figured out my issue, behold, this may help you too.

    I had a bad (large) value in the pen diameter.
    I lowered it, and everything is working fine now.
