    Well, I actually didn’t have any baling wire so I used hot glue instead…

    Attached is a photo of my current gondola. The base is a clear protective disk from a DVD stack. The pen holder is a Sharpie cap with the end clipped off just enough so that a Sharpie sticks through the base “just enough”. The holder is glued to the base with an intervening washer (I cut the cap too short). Weight is via a pair of dead AA batteries. A cheap RC servo is the pen lift, rotating an arm 90 degrees through a slot in the base.

    Each bobbin cord has a long loop in the gondola end. The loops go around the pen holder and are held in place with an upside down “U” made from copper wire glued to the bottom of the holder. Gravity makes the intersection of the cords pretty much at the center of the pen axis. I use mono filament cord which slides around the plastic pen holder nicely.
