Heavily considering buying a 2.5 kit after seeing it at Van Mini Maker Faire this year.
Evaluating options: is there any practical advantage between the two Adafruit shields in the scope of this project?
And how is the code implementation for ASM2 in the firmware? Pretty equal to ASM1 or still buggy?
Thanks so much for the info.
They’re functionally the same. The AMS2 can be stacked – you can put up to 64? AMS2 on an arduino and run 128 stepper motors at once. …but it would get pretty slow.
The only difference I would consider is what I’m going to do with the electronics after a drawbot. Maybe you have plans down the road to build a skycam?
The code is tested and works for both machines. If you find a bug, we’ll fix it.
Haha good to know! No skycam plans in the immediate future but……
