Makelangelo 7.5.0

Makelangelo 7.5.0 is out now. Read on for more details.

New calibration point

The calibration point hidden under the paper is not great. It made restarts and “start at #” difficult. The new home position is 21.7cm from the top limit. The top limit is the line between the bottom left corner of the right motor and the bottom right corner of the left motor – the same line you measured when you calibrated the machine.

To make your life easy, I’ve got a calibration pattern for Makelangelo 7.5.0 in several flavors. Print it as-is (no shrink-to-fit). Then tape the paper to the top of your machine and you should get great results every time. Less guesswork is better.

Landscape toggle and paper margins moved

landscape and margin settings in Makelangelo 7.5.0

Click the checkbox to turn the paper sideways. I find that I don’t change paper margins much, so they’ve been moved off the high-rent main screen to the more affordable paper settings neighborhood.

Drag & Drop

Drag from your desktop to start converting your images. Easy is better!

Makelangelo counterweights

Try this:

I have 150g in each bottle. By folding the belts and attaching them at the motor the bottle moves half as far, so it can’t hit the floor and cause problems.

Final thoughts

I’ll put it up for sale on Monday. One option will be flat packed DIY and one will be plans to laser it yourself. The version in our Makelangelo kits will be fully assembled and tested by us.
