What is Wrong with this PCB I Designed for a Line Following HOGbot?

Situation

I’m building a line following robot using the HOG drive. This is the first time I make my own PCB and I’m probably doing it all wrong. Years of making robots and I’ve managed to avoid this gruesome task until now. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?

The PCB

This PCB is supposed to receive 5v0.3a and send a modulated 5v signal through the orange lines to an Arduino. The modulation is based on the amount of reflected IR light emitted by the IR LEDs in each of the QRD1114 sensors. The resistors are supposed to keep everything playing nicely together.

Here are pictures of the front and back.

Symptoms

When I plug it in the outer two LEDs light up (I can see it on my iPhone 5) dimly. The sensors return nothing but HIGH (5v) all the time.

2013-03-04 New Stuff!

By popular demand, the latest version of the HOG drive printable parts are now listed as a separate item in the store. Let me know if you want them with M3x10 screws.

Also the Tamiya threaded shaft set 70171 for the Delta Robots and the HOG Drive is now available.

Remember if you use any parts you got here, either to make our kits or to design something new, let us know! We’d love brag about how awesome you are.

Friday is my birthday and the release of the Makelangelo 2. Kits will start to flow out of the warehouse in the order in which they were placed. I’m disappointed to say that some of my part orders from China are taking a long-ass time to get here. I ordered them months ago and all China Air Mail will tell me about the tracking numbers is that “the package has left the country.” I guess I should be lucky I know what good tracking looks like. That’s why every package I ship has a tracking number so you know where you stand, and I send you the tracking number as soon as I get it.

Let’s Make a Makelangelo 2 Pen Holder

Makelangelo 2 features a pen-lifting system that, regrettably, has to ship unassembled.
Here is all the information you need to follow along and put yours together.

Makelangelo 2 pre-orders are on sale at www.makelangelo.com until March 8, 2013.

Make Something People Love

I’ve only just seen this video and I will probably rewatch it several times in the next few months. There’s a lot of great ideas here about making a website and about making things in general.
