Evil Overlord now supports Rotary Stewart Platform 2 and SPIDEE-1

Marginally Clever Robot’s Evil Overlord software now controls the Rotary Stewart Platform v2 and the SPIDEE-1 hexapod crab robot.

Evil Overlord with Rotary Stewart Platform 2

Evil Overlord was written in an effort to reduce duplication.  By merging the control programs for all our existing robots, we’re making it easier to install, learn, and run any of our great machines.  You can get the Evil Overlord developer preview here.  The first robot it controlled was the Evil Minion 5 axis robot arm.

Rotary Stewart Platform v2 is the machine under a flight simulator, made to scale.  Companies are buying it to test their gyroscopes, antennaes, and more.  Rotary Stewart Platform always needed a better interface, and now it’s got a big update.  The Rotary Stewart Platform github project has been stripped of all the outdated Java code.  If you own one already you’ll want to get the latest firmware so it can talk with Evil Overlord.

SPIDEE-1 was Marginally Clever’s first robot, an 18 servo crab that walks.  It had control software way ahead of it’s time.  By bringing it into Evil Overlord, one could argue the other robots have finally caught up.

You can help

R&D is looking for three things.

1. Try the program!  We want to know what you think.

2. R&D wants an STL file of an assembled Prusa i3.  They want to display the printer in the simulator and teach the Evil Minion to take prints out of the machine.  If you do, please share a link in our forums’ R&D channel.

3. R&D seeks a skilled Electronics Engineer who can design a new PCB for SPIDEE-1.  We know what we want, we need you to make it real.  Qualified EEs should contact us and tell us why you’re right for the job.
