Vancouver Mini Maker Faire 2011, Upgrading my webopresence

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

Followed up on all my best contacts from the Maker faire this morning. I gave out a lot of cards and I hope those people reach out to me, and soon.  I also upgraded my web technologies – now when I blog it should automatically go to facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc.

Maker Faire was awesome!  There were so many great things to see and try. I missed out on the chance to try glass blowing but made sure to build a plane, eat some street meat, talk until I sprained my tongue, and even did a lecture on why robots are important.

The metaphor I came up with is based in calculus. How nerdy is that? I said people have a position. They acquire things to improve that position. A change in position is velocity. People who make things are at a constant velocity. I want to be acceleration – making things to empower them to make more better faster stuff for all the consumers out there. It’s the only trickle down effect that really works.

Sunday morning, waiting for the bus to the Maker Faire, all I wanted was to draw a mural on the ceiling.

Rededication

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

As I approach my 33rd birthday, I am intensely aware of the passage of time. I have a vision of the future and I am not content to dream about it until the day I die – I want it, and I want it now. Since I am not content to wait for someone else to do it, I have to rededicate my life to achieving my goals. To whit: I believe that any manufactured good can be produced by a machine. It follows that there must be a machine that can make any other machine. I believe the technology exists today to build such a machine and it only requires the motive, means, and opportunity. I think I have all but the means. So join me as I learn all about automation, manufacturing, tools, robots,
